Bill Berry Brings Bond to Table

Mark Allen - Associate Editor

One of the main issues on campus today is the bond measure and one of the key faces behind it is William Berry. Berry heads William Berry Campaigns, a company that has been working tirelessly with the staff and faculty of Las Positas and Chabot Colleges to successfully pass this measure.

A product of community colleges himself, Berry has worked on over 60 separate campaigns, seven of which have been community college related. He has been successful in six out of seven campaigns, and this is his 8th campaign attempt. In addition, Berry’s company has won five Pollie awards, given out by the American Association of Political Consultants, which honors the best use of ads and other measures to promote political campaigns.

These awards were earned by Willam Berry Campaigns for their work on the Yes on Measure S act, as well as the election of two state representatives, and two state senators.

Sacramento Ad Club has also honored William Berry Campaigns with one of its Addy awards.

Berry explained that “the ability to give hands-on attention and make every campaign different” has made his business the success that it is today.

Considering the needs of the district is important to a successful campaign. “Chabot requires funding for renovation and Las Positas requires more funding for growth, and the community has a lot of trust and respect for the community colleges,” Berry commented.

Berry expressed his admiration for the thoroughness of the planning and the hard work and dedication shown by both the students and the faculty, particularly the Chancellor and the Presidents of both Chabot and Las Positas Colleges, and that’s why he took the job.

For people that are interested in working on the bond campaign Berry suggested calling Chuck Gilchrest a local campaign manager at (510) 289-9526. Visit the website wbcampaigns.net for information about William Berry Campaigns.
